I’ve lived in Japan for over 15 years. Looking back, I can see how much I’ve learned and how God has shaped me during that time. One thing that struck me early on is how many conversations here begin with the seasons and weather. It’s predictable—but meaningful. How people talk about weather often reveals their personalities, attitudes, and even their history.

Lately, I’ve realized that these seasonal cycles, while familiar, can sometimes make us forget that each season holds new opportunities. God is always at work—even in routines that feel ordinary.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

— Isaiah 43:19 

This is why finding a home church matters so much. When we gather with others, encourage each other, and share life together, our eyes open to the new things God is doing.

私は15年以上日本に住んでいます。振り返ってみると、この間、どれほど多くのことを学び、神様が私をどれほど形作ってくださってきたかが分かります。最初に印象に残ったことの一つは、日本では会話が季節や天気から始まることが非常に多いことです。それは予測可能なことですが、意味深いものです。人々が天気についてどのように話すかは、しばしばその人の性格、考え方、そして過去の経歴さえも明らかにします。
